Despite a shaky start and struggles at the foul line, the Warriors outscored Staples 26-8 in the second half to prevail 40-30 in the penultimate regular-season game for both teams. Wilton (10-9, 9-6 FCIAC) will be one of the eight teams vying for a conference title beginning Saturday thanks to its second-half surge. Wilton’s full-court press began to create turnovers — including on several inbounding passes following made baskets. Wilton didn’t allow a field goal in the last 6:11 to put the game away. After struggling from the foul line through three quarters – the Warriors were 5 for 18 at one point – Wilton converted 6 of its last 8 to end the game on a 6-1 run.
