Greenwich girls basketball team rolls past Staples Since suffering its first loss of the season on Friday against rival Ridgefield, the Greenwich High School girls basketball team was eager to get back on the court for its next game. Using its height to its advantage and playing tenacious defense throughout, Greenwich got back on the winning track, rolling to a resounding 71-25 victory at home. “We wanted to get back to following our game plan after Friday’s game,” said GHS coach Chrys Hernandez, whose squad dropped a 62-47 decision to Ridgefield on Friday. The challenge for us was to go out there and start playing Greenwich High School basketball again. The shots don’t always fall, but if we work the high-low, we will get to the foul line, which will help us pull out to a big lead. The Cardinals continued to build their lead, successfully getting the ball inside, while also hitting its share of perimeter shots against Staples’ man-to-man defense.
